Information for prospective graduate students
I am interested in motivated, independent students with interests in the ecology and evolution of species interactions. I work with students to help them develop their own research projects, focusing on topics generally in the areas of my research focus. Masters students tend to work on projects more closely related to my current projects; while I encourage doctoral students to work with me to choose projects about which they are really excited. If you are interested in my lab, please read the document under "Do's and Don'ts for Graduate School".
Please note: I will not be accepting additional graduate students.
Themes of research in the lab include:
Please note: I will not be accepting additional graduate students.
Themes of research in the lab include:
- The community ecology of plants, insect herbivores and natural enemies (predators, parasitoids and pathogens)
- Behavior and ecology of insect herbivores, especially members of the Lepidoptera.
- Effects of climate change and anthropogenic disturbance on insect communities.
- Chemical ecology of multitrophic interactions.
- The effects of introduced plants on native insects and their enemies.
Undergraduate Students
I am interested in motivated undergraduate students who are excited about biology and the natural world. We typically involve undergraduates in ongoing research projects and I encourage interested students to contact me or other students and post-docs in the lab. Undergraduate students interested in research opportunities should contact Deane Bowers or a lab member with whom they would like to work.
